　ギネス挑戦は、高校３年にあたる６年ａ組の３９人が、企画から制作、英文によるギネス登録申請まで手がけた。材料費も小遣いから３５００円ずつ持ち寄って１５万円を集め、コマの大きさだけでも８０センチの巨大オセロを完成させた。
　大学入試センター試験の１日目を終えた生徒代表の箕田君が１月１４日、自宅でパソコンを開くと、ギネス社から「世界記録に承認する」と英文のメールが届いていた。これを受けて８日、同校で認定証の伝達式があり、クラスメートらが認定を喜んだ。本当によかったですね。従来の大きさから比べると大きなものを作ったんですね。卒業に際して、忘れられない思い出作りになりましたね。
