宇宙ごみの掃除（Cleaning of space junk）

宇宙ごみ掃除承ります。スイス西部にあるローザンヌ工科大の宇宙センターは１５日、地球の周囲にある使えなくなった衛星の残骸など無数の「宇宙ごみ」を回収し処理する計画を発表した。予算は１千万スイスフラン（約８億５千万円）を見込み、企業への資金提供を呼び掛けている。３～５年後の実用化を目指している。
　同センターによると、宇宙には運用期間を終えた衛星や打ち上げに使ったロケットの残骸など直径１０センチを超える宇宙ごみが約１万６千個あり、毎秒数キロメートルの速さで地球の周囲を回っている。　
地上から宇宙ごみをつかむためのアームの付いた装置を発射。回収後、大気圏に突入する際に、装置と共に“焼却”処理する。同センターは「技術的に克服すべき点が残っている」としている。
　昔では考えられなかった宇宙のゴミの収集業者や焼却業者が仕事になる時が来るんでしょうかね。
