大阪維新の会が３月開講する「維新政治塾」の塾生募集について、中国出張中の維新幹事長、松井一郎大阪府知事は締め切り日の１０日夜の時点で約２７５０人から応募があったと明らかにした。維新は当初、１０００人程度の応募と見込み、４００人に絞り込む予定だったが、急きょ８００人程度でスタートする方針に。その後に「試験」で塾生を絞り込み、最終合格者を事実上の国政選挙立候補予定者にあたる「志士」と認定する方向で検討を始めている。
先月１１日から始めた塾生募集は、論文提出を義務づけ、提出期限を「今月１０日必着」とした。維新本部にはこの日、書類を持参する人が続々と。東京都在住の無職男性（３５）は「今は政治家になるつもりはないが、自分が肌で感じる閉塞（へいそく）感を打破するため、知恵を出せたら」。大阪府内の大手家電メーカーに勤務する男性（４０）は「経済の落ち込みは政治の停滞が原因。関西が立ち上がれるよう力を尽くしたい」と政界進出に意欲を見せた。
