グローバル企業とのライセンス契約（License agreement with global companies）

京都大の山中伸弥教授が発明した、さまざまな組織や細胞に成長する能力があるｉＰＳ細胞（人工多能性幹細胞）の作製技術に関する知的財産権を管理している「ｉＰＳアカデミアジャパン」（京都市）は２１日、米研究用試薬供給会社「シグマアルドリッチ」社と、関連技術の使用を認める非独占的なライセンス契約を締結した、と発表した。
　シグマ社は世界４０カ国で取引があるグローバル企業。研究機関で使われる試薬や実験器具など１８万点を超える製品を供給している。京大のｉＰＳ細胞技術のライセンス契約は、これまでに米、独、仏の企業などと７件成立しているが、世界的に取引網がある大手企業との締結は今回が初。より多くの研究者のもとにｉＰＳ細胞が届けられることが期待される。
　シグマ社とは、ｉＰＳ細胞の製造・販売のほか、ｉＰＳ細胞から成長させた器官の細胞の製造・販売についても、山中教授が発明した技術の使用を許可しており、再生医療や創薬の分野で、より迅速な研究の進展が期待できる。契約は非独占的で、同様の研究を進める他企業ともそれぞれ契約を結べるため、各企業のｉＰＳ細胞の研究が妨げられることはないという。
　山中教授は「グローバルな企業との契約が成立したことで、世界におけるｉＰＳ細胞技術を用いた研究開発が活発化することを期待している」と話している。
　ｉＰＳアカデミアジャパン京都大の山中伸弥教授が発明したｉＰＳ細胞の研究成果を社会に還元するため、平成２０年６月、京都市上京区に設立された株式会社。京大が保有するｉＰＳ細胞技術に関する知的財産を管理することを主な目的としていたが、現在は大阪大や東北大などで発明されたｉＰＳ細胞関連の知的財産も管理。医療や創薬の分野で研究開発を行う企業とのライセンス契約を手掛ける。これまでに約２２０の特許を管理・運用しており、世界の約５０機関と契約を締結している。
　グローバル企業とのライセンス契約によってｉＰＳ細胞の世界的な研究活動が活発化して再生医療が具体的になっていくことを期待したいですね。
