一橋大学が独自案（Hitotsubashi University has its own draft）

東京大学が全面移行を検討している秋入学について、一橋大学が入学時期を春のままにしながら、本格的な授業の開始を秋に移す独自案を検討していることが21日、わかった。入学から秋学期までを「導入学期」、４年次の最後の３カ月を「修了学期」とし、実質的な学部教育は７学期で終える。春入学・春卒業の枠組みのまま、国際標準の秋入学に合わせた授業日程が組める利点がある。
　東大案と異なる具体的な独自案が明らかになったのは初めて。一橋大は、東大が秋入学に向けて有力11大学に呼びかけ、発足させる協議会の参加校で、今後の議論に影響を与えるのは必至とみられる。他の大学でも秋入学移行をめぐる検討の動きが加速しそうだ。
　山内進学長によると、独自案では、新入生の入学時期は４月で現行と同じ。４～７月の導入学期中に、大学の責任で、語学や歴史、思想、理工系の科目など大学で学ぶ基礎教育を行う。希望者には海外留学も奨励する。
　夏休み（８月）を経て、１年次の秋学期（９～12月）から本格的な大学教育を開始。冬休みを経て、春学期（１～６月）に入る。学部教育は７学期で終え、４年次の12月後半～３月を修了学期として卒業論文を完成させれば３月に卒業が可能。留学生は９月入学を認め、留学生や卒業単位が足りない学生は８学期も学び、６月卒業とする。
　一橋大では現行でも、４年生の前期には大半の学生が卒業に必要な単位をほぼ取得、後期は卒論に集中するため、７学期でも十分対応できる。
　山内学長は、この案の利点として、(1)高校卒業から秋までの期間（ギャップターム）の教育に大学が責任を持ち、無為に過ごさせない(2)春入学・春卒業のまま、国際標準の秋入学と同じ効果が得られる(3)学部の期間が延びないので大学院進学に影響がない――などをあげている。
　春に入学しようが、秋に入学しようが、大学自体の評価が世界的に高まれば留学生も集まるでしょう。入試の内容も見直すべきときにきているようにも感じますね。ある年代層だけのための大学教育になっていることも気になりますね。もっと広い年代の多くの方々に開かれた大学であって欲しい気もしますね。
　外的な入学時期等の議論を通じて、高等教育（大学教育)のあり方などの本質的議論や改革に結びついていくことを期待したいですね。
