スーパーアース（Super earth）

銀河系には生命存在の可能性がある巨大地球型惑星「スーパーアース」が数百億個も存在するという推計を、欧州南天天文台（ＥＳＯ）が発表した。

観測の結果、銀河系にある赤色矮星のうち４０％が、生命の存在が可能な圏内を周回している地球型惑星を持つと推計。赤色矮星は太陽のような黄色矮星に比べて温度が低く、質量も小さい恒星のことで、銀河系にある恒星のうち約８０％を占めることから、銀河系の中で生命の存在が可能な圏内にある地球型のスーパーアースは数百億個と試算した。
地球から比較的近い距離にあるものも多く、３０光年以内のスーパーアースは１００個と推計している。存在しているというだけで、そこに知的生命体が存在している可能性は少ないでしょうね。人類以上の知性を持った宇宙人とは、どんな存在なんでしょうかね？　人類以外の知的生命体は宇宙には存在しないように思いますね。
