　すでに風車１号機を秋田県にかほ市に建設、３月に稼働した。２号機以降もにかほ市を中心に風力発電の専門会社と連携して建設する。13年度は最大３基を着工する。１号機の際は国の補助金を使って建設したが11年３月までの申請で打ち切りとなったため２号機以降は原則、自社で建設費用を賄う。12基の総投資額は約60億円を見込む。
　秋田で発電した電気はいったん地元の電力会社に売却。その売却収入を使って、各地の介護施設や飲食店で使用する電気を別の電力会社から購入する。同時にＣＯ2削減の価値があるとみなされる「グリーン電力証書」を購入することで、自社のＣＯ2排出量の削減にもつなげる。将来的には外食店を含むグループ全体の電気を風力や地熱など再生可能エネルギーに転換することを目指す。
　これまで再生可能エネルギーの買い取りは太陽光発電による電気に限られていたが７月以降は風力発電にも拡大。さらに国が決めた価格で一定期間の買い取りを電力会社に義務付けるため、民間事業者にとっても参入しやすい環境が整う。ワタミは同制度の開始を見越したうえで風車の建設を決定した。
　電力会社が一手に発電し送電する方式も要ですが、今後は地域や企業・家庭ごとに、独自で発電し使用するような方式がどんどん増えていくべきであると感じますね。その意味からも評価できるように感じますね。
