「国際コミュニケーション英語能力テスト（TOEIC）」を日本国内で実施・運営する一般財団法人
国際ビジネスコミュニケーション協会は4日、2011年度のTOEICテスト総受験者数が過去最高となる227万人に達したと発表した。1979年より続いている同検定だが200万人を超えたのは今回が初めて。
受験者の内訳は公開テストが110万8000人、団体特別受験制度が116万2000人。団体テストは2007年より90万人台を推移していたが初めて100万人を突破。公開テストも07年より70万人台が続いていたが、一気に100万人を超えた。同協会は受験者数急増の背景として「企業のグローバル化が進んだことにより英語力の必要性がさらに高まり、TOEICテストの活用が一層広まった」と分析している。
聞き取りと読解で構成される「TOEICテスト」は英語によるコミュニケーション能力を幅広く評価する世界共通の検定で、“TOEICスコア”といえば同検定のことを指す。なお、基礎的な理解力を測る「TOEIC Bridge」の2011年度総受験者数は前年比2％増の21万3000人、作文能力のほか会話力も測る「TOEICスピーキングテスト／ライティングテスト」は同26％増の1万700人だった。

企業の海外進出等を背景に英語の必要性は高まっていくでしょうね。それに比例する形で受検者数も増えていくでしょうね。総人口比で考えると1.6%程度ですから受検する方は僅かという感じですし、英語を駆使してビジネスで世界を飛び回るという方は本当に少ないんでしょうね。そんな観点から英語を見直してみると小学校での英語必修化はどうなんでしょうかね。英語より国語に力を入れるべきだとも思いますね。

The "TOEIC test" which consists of listening comprehension and reading comprehension is the official approval common to the world which evaluates the communications skills in English broadly, and if it is called a "TOEIC score", it will point out the official approval.
In addition, "the TOEIC speaking test / writing test", as for, the total number of examinees will measure speaking ability besides 213,000 persons, the increase of 2% compared with last year, and composition capability in the 2011 fiscal year of "TOEIC Bridge" which measures the fundamental power of understanding were 10,700 persons, the increase of the 26%.
Does the necessity for English increase against the background of the overseas expansion of a company, etc.?
Does the number of persons also increase in the form proportional to it?
It is touch that the directions which since it is about 1.6% when it thinks by an overall population ratio are few. Is there flying [ really little ] about the world on business, making full use of English?
If English is improved from such a viewpoint, how is English requirement-ization at an elementary school?
