人口減少幅20万４千人（204 000 person population decline）

2011年の日本の人口減少幅は過去最大の20万４千人にのぼることが31日、厚生労働省の人口動態統計（年間推計）で分かった。出生数が死亡数を下回る自然減は５年連続で、20万人を超えるのは初めて。婚姻件数は67万組で戦後最少となる見通し。東日本大震災をきっかけに「絆」が再認識された年だったが、前年比３万組の減少で、少子化の一段の加速につながる可能性もある。
　出生数は戦後最少の105万７千人で、前年比１万４千人（1.3％）減った。死亡数は126万１千人。東日本大震災の死者（昨年12月30日現在で１万5844人確認）の影響もあり、同６万４千人（5.3％）増えて戦後最多を更新した。
　婚姻数は年間100万組を超えた1970年代前半をピークに減少し、78年に80万組を割り込んだ。87年にこれまで最少の69万６千組となった後、88年からは70万台で推移していた。厚労省は「少子化で結婚適齢期の女性が減っていることが影響している。初婚年齢が変わらなければ今後も減少が続く」と説明する。
　一方、離婚件数は23万５千組で、前年比１万６千組減。96年に20万組を突破し、02年に28万９千組で戦後最多となって以降は減少傾向が続く。
