ソニーは、腕時計型のウエアラブル（身につけられる）携帯端末の新機種「スマートウオッチ２」を２５日から自社サイトで販売すると発表した。スマートフォン「エクスペリア」と無線で連動し、通話はできないものの、着信を確認したり、メールの受信一覧を見たりすることができる。
　新機種は液晶画面が約１・６インチになり、前の機種より２割ほど大きい。表示できるアイコンの数も４個から６個に増えた。エクスペリアに保存した画像を見たり、音楽を聴いたりもできる。価格は１万４８００円（税込み）。
　手に持たなくても携帯電話の機能の一部を使えるウエアラブル端末は、ここ最近、世界の電機・ＩＴ企業がメガネ型や腕時計型で開発を競っている。ソニーはいち早く２００７年に腕時計型を発売しており、１１年からはスマホと連動して使える端末を毎年発売してきた。
　液晶画面の制約があるのでスマートフォンの全ての機能を腕時計の中に盛り込むことができないでしょうが、近い将来、それが可能になるかもしれませんね。しかし画面が小さくて認識が出来ないかもしれませんがね。
