観光庁は、海外で人気が高い日本のアニメや漫画の舞台などをめぐる「聖地巡礼」の情報を紹介する英語のウェブサイトを開設した。ファンを日本観光に呼び込み、さらに魅力を知ってもらう狙いだ。担当者は「新しい旅行の形が広まれば」と効果に期待している。
サイトは茨城県大洗町を舞台にしたアニメ「ガールズ＆パンツァー」など四作品を特集し、地元の観光協会の協力も得て「第四話で登場した神社の参道」など、観光スポットや店舗を作品と絡めて紹介している。
また、別の十作品のモデルになった場所を、作品のキャラクターのコスプレをした人が紹介するそれぞれ一分ほどの実写動画も掲載。サイトで紹介する作品は順次、増やしていく方針だ。
