「アンパンマン」などで知られる漫画家、やなせたかし（本名＝柳瀬嵩）さんが１３日、心不全のため死去した。９４歳。葬儀・告別式は近親者のみで執り行った。後日、しのぶ会を開く予定。
　大正８年生まれ、高知県で育つ。東京高等工芸学校（現千葉大工学部）図案科を卒業後、グラフィックデザイナーとして、田辺製薬（現田辺三菱製薬）、三越百貨店（現三越伊勢丹）などに勤務。三越の包装紙にある「Ｍｉｔｓｕｋｏｓｈｉ」の文字は当時、やなせさんが描いた。
　昭和２８年に独立し、漫画家デビュー。ラジオドラマの脚本や詩、童話なども手掛け、多彩な才能を発揮。３６年に作詞した「手のひらを太陽に」（いずみたく作曲）は大ヒットした。４８年には雑誌「詩とメルヘン」を自らが中心となって創刊。詩にイラストを添えて載せた形式が評判を呼んだ。雑誌は平成１５年の廃刊まで３０年間にわたって刊行され、多くのイラストレーターを輩出した。
　昭和４８年に出版した絵本「あんぱんまん」（当時は平仮名表記）は、困った人に自分の顔をちぎって与えるヒーローが高い支持を得て、大ヒット。６３年にテレビアニメ化されると、その人気は国民的なものになり、アニメ映画作品も繰り返し作られた。
　アニメ映画の挿入歌の歌詞も大半を自分で書くだけでなく、作曲も手掛け、歌手デビューし、その後、ミュージカルにも出演した。晩年も積極的に活動を続け、平成１２年から２４年まで日本漫画家協会理事長を務め、その後、同協会会長に退いていた。
