伊勢神宮（三重県伊勢市）の２０年に１度の式年遷宮は、内宮で２日夜、天照大神のご神体を新しい正殿にうつす「遷御の儀」が行われた。８年かけて続けられてきた一連の祭事のクライマックス。闇に包まれた森厳な雰囲気の中、古式にのっとった儀式は粛々と進み、神様の“引っ越し”は無事に終了した。外宮（げくう）の遷御は５日夜に行われる。
　午後８時前、内宮の新旧両社殿の前は明かりが全て消された。神職が鶏の鳴き声をまねて「カケコウ」と３度唱える「鶏鳴三声」を合図に、元皇族の黒田清子臨時祭主や、鷹司尚武大宮司をはじめとする遷宮装束姿の神職百数十人の「渡御御列」が旧社殿から姿を現した。
　列の中央では、神職らが「絹垣」と呼ばれる絹の覆いに囲まれたご神体「八咫鏡」をささげ持つ。たいまつの明かりをたよりに約２０分かけ、ゆっくりと歩を進めた列は、旧正殿の西隣に建てられた新しい正殿の方に消えた。ご神体は新正殿に納められ、遷御の儀は終わった。
　６９０（持統天皇４）年に始まったとされる式年遷宮は今回で６２回目。約３０００人の特別参拝者が桟敷席から見守った。20年後とに粛々と儀式が行われ今回で６２回とは凄いですね。改めて日本歴史の素晴らしさをかんじます。一度は直接見てみたいですが難しいでしょうね。久しぶりにお伊勢参りに行ってみたくなりましたね。
