From next year , the Ministry of Education started the next-generation supercomputer development . The goal of computing power , is 100 times the current supercomputer "K " . While
the race to develop supercomputers in the world followed , and the
maintenance of domestic technology , supporting the expansion of use due

next-generation supercomputer , computing power of times the target (

文部科学省は来年度から、次世代スーパーコンピューター開発を始める。計算能力の目標は、現在のスパコン「京」の100倍だ。世界でスパコンの開発競争が続く中、国産技術の維持や、ものづくり企業などによる利用の裾野拡大が課題になりそうだ。
次世代スパコンは、1秒間に1エクサ(100京・京は1兆の1万倍)回の計算能力が目標。約1200億円をかけて、2020年ごろまでの実現を目指す。世界最高水準の性能を実現し、計算量の大きいシミュレーションによって社会や科学の課題解決に貢献できるようにするという。
「京」と比べた具体的な目標例として、▽地震時の津波が到達する前に浸水被害を予測(1日半→1時間以内)して避難などに活用▽自動車の衝突シミュレーションなどの高速化(40日→10時間)による衝突試験コストの大幅削減や設計プロセスの効率化――などを掲げている。
世界一の座を奪還すべく来年度と言わず、すぐにでも開発に取り組んでほしいですね。
