不思議な水槽（Mysterious aquarium）

アジやエイといった海水魚と、ニシキゴイ、アロワナなどの淡水魚が一緒に泳ぎ回る不思議な水槽が１９日、岡山理科大学（岡山市）に完成した。１２種約２０匹が同居している。
　工学部の山本准教授が、海水の約６０の成分を調べ、海水魚に欠かせない最低限の成分や濃度を解明。淡水に、ナトリウムやカリウムなど数種類をわずかに加えることで、海水魚も生息できるように工夫した。
　お披露目には、同大学特別栄誉教授でノーベル化学賞受賞者の鈴木章さんも出席。興味深そうに見つめ、「初めて見た。すごいね」と感心していた。海辺でなくても極端な話、山麓でも環境をうまくコントロールしてあげればアジなどの養殖も可能になるのかもしれませんね。海洋国家として夢がふくらみますね。
