山梨県早川町は、町内の小中学生の給食費や修学旅行費、教材費などを全額負担し、義務教育にかかる費用を実質無償化する方針を決めた。

　町は子育て支援のため、これまでも小中学校の給食費の半額補助などをしてきた。保護者の負担をさらに減らそうと、６月に教育委員や町会議員、ＰＴＡ代表ら１１人でつくる検討会を設置。１１日に「教育経費は町が全て負担することが望ましい」とする報告書の提出を受け、実質無償化を決めた。深沢教育長は「地域の子どもを地域で育てることで、少子化対策につなげたい」と話している。
