マンガ寺子屋(Cartoon Terakoya)

液状化被害を受けた浦安市の復興支援のため、明治大商学部の学生らが同市今川に「マンガ寺子屋」を開設した。鳥取県北栄町にある同様の寺子屋などから寄贈された約１０００冊を収蔵。小中学生に無料開放するほか、漫画に関する教室などを開き、子供に笑顔を与え、地域活性化につなげたいという。

　寺子屋を運営するのは、明大商学部・水野教授のゼミ所属の２年生。きっかけは、３年生が昨年９月、漫画「名探偵コナン」の作者青山剛昌さんの出身地・北栄町に開設したマンガ寺子屋だった。
　ゼミの調査では開設後、漫画に対する町民の関心は倍増。同町にある記念館「青山剛昌ふるさと館」の入館者は約３割増えた。学生たちは、浦安を舞台にしたギャグ漫画「浦安鉄筋家族」の舞台になるなど漫画に縁がある浦安でも、活用すれば復興にも一役買えると考えたという。
　開設に向け、漫画を集めるため北栄町に協力を求め、学内のほかの学生にも呼びかけた。集まった本のうち、町は約７００冊、大学は約３００冊を寄贈。ふるさと館は「被災して落ち込んだ気持ちが、漫画を通じて少しでも晴れてくれれば」としている。
　明大生のボランティア活動拠点「震災復興支援センター」内の一角に置いた本棚には「名探偵コナン」をはじめ、大作の「火の鳥」や「銀河鉄道９９９」、「うる星やつら」「ヒカルの碁」などが並ぶ。
　開館は午前１０時～午後５時。火、水曜は休館。年内に漫画イラストの描き方教室、年度内には浦安関係の漫画関係者を招いた講演会を開催する予定だ。
震災者の心の復興と同時に地域おこしの原動力なっていくといいですね。
