　鑑定した愛知文教大学の増田学長（日本書跡史）は「文体、書風共にきれいで、文章も上手にまとまり、知性的な女性だった」とし、２代徳川将軍・秀忠の妻となる江(ごう)を生んだ“戦国一の美女”が才色兼備だったと指摘している。
　手紙は、縦１９・７センチ、横１０３・８センチの和紙に書かれている。戦国時代の知識人女性の筆跡で、末尾に当時の女性の風習に基づき、差出人名の最初のひらがな「い」が記載。更に、信長の長女徳姫らを示す「おとく兄弟」の息災に触れており、「叔母にあたる市の手紙の可能性が極めて高い」と判断したという。どこから見つかったんでしょうかね。文体や書風等から外的な面(容姿)はともかく、内的な世界を読み解くことができるでしょうから、より深い「お市」像が浮かび上がってくることを期待したいですね。
