漢字１文字で一年の世相を表す毎年恒例の「今年の漢字」が１２日、「絆」に決まった。東日本大震災をはじめ台風やタイの大洪水など災害が相次ぎ、人と人の 絆の大切さが見直されたことや、サッカー女子ワールドカップ（Ｗ杯）で初優勝した「なでしこジャパン」のチームワークなどが反映された。
