Small
satellites are mounted in fixed H2A rocket to be launched in the year
Associate Professor of Engineering Kagawa has
developed a campus news conference at the Faculty of Forest Takamatsu
city.
Kagawa's research team, the space junk problem in recent years has become the satellite (space debris) will experiment with techniques for removing, Associate Professor 能見 the "debris removal technologies to compete in the world have been. determines the early launch, very happy, "he said.
The research team in June, with 13 years of public launch vehicle Aerospace Research and Development Organization, "a small satellite piggyback" apply. Future debris removal technology, marketing and industrialization could be large, was elected with six other universities, such as satellite
STARS-2, the base unit on a string of metal called a conductive tether (5 km) and handset (4 km) is composed.
The team, by passing a current through the tether extending perpendicular to the Earth's magnetic field direction and the orbit of satellites and debris captured by generating a force in the opposite direction, dropping technique of dropping the speed of the debris into the atmosphere aims to develop. STARS-using the difference of gravity and centrifugal force ▽ 2, making electricity from the plasma space ▽ extend the tether, the tether flow - over three months to do four such experiments.
If successful, the technology that leads to the establishment of technologies and approaches the debris falling. STARS team in building a prototype two-month-, endurance and experiments to get started.
Debris and debris that used satellites. According to Associate Professor 能見, with space for about 20,000, including a problem that would cause damage to the colliding satellites.
STARS team will also be future-capture technology as the three debris. The experimental work has been local businesses and organizations, is Associate Professor 能見 "We want to create a system capable of industrialization in the local 'and are excitedly.
It is a meaningful launch has been a problem from space junk falling satellite, etc.. I hope local industrialization progresses.
