最高齢の卒業生（Graduates of the oldest）

広島市安佐南区の広島経済大経済学部経営学科に社会人入学した同市東区の網本さん（７３）が１９日、卒業を迎えた。同大学では過去最高齢の卒業生。運送業界に長く携わっていることから、経験を生かした卒業論文を執筆した。学科トップの成績で学位記を受け取った網本さんは「充実した学生生活だった。研究成果を実社会で生かしたい」と張り切っている。
　網本さんは１９５７年に山口県内の高校を卒業し、大手運送会社に就職。自動車輸送部門で営業や企画を担当し、支店長も務めた。９９年に退職後は、独立行政法人「自動車事故対策機構」の専任講師として運送会社に行き、運行管理者を対象に安全講習などで指導をしている。
　そんななか、トラック事故が減らない現状に「解決方法がないか、体系的に学びたい」と思い、２００８年４月に入学。規制緩和でトラック業界の競争は激しくなり、コスト削減や運転手の長時間労働など、労働環境の悪化が問題となっていた。
　一般教養などを学び、３年時から物流論を専攻した。ゼミでは、山本准教授（経営学）の指導で、環境に優しい「エコドライブ」と交通事故防止の関わりをテーマに研究。卒業論文では、環境に配慮した経営を心がける企業は事故を起こす割合が低いとのデータを示し、急発進や急ブレーキをしないなどのエコドライブが事故防止につながると指摘した。
　ほぼ全ての講義に出席。パソコンの使い方や記憶力の低下に苦労したが、「孫のような同級生に刺激を受け、毎日が楽しく、あっという間だった」と振り返る。研究成果は安全講習などで生かすといい、「これからも社会に貢献したい」と話した。　ぜひ、現役を続行し研究成果を社会に役立てていってください。
