ソフトバンクモバイルは１０日、米アップルのタブレット端末「ｉＰａｄ（アイパッド）」の新型（第３世代）を１６日から発売する、と発表した。１０日から全国のソフトバンクショップなどで予約受け付けを開始した。
　新型アイパッドは、画面の大きさ（９．７インチ）はこれまでと同じだが、解像度を約４倍の３１０万画素に高め、通常の家庭用ＨＤテレビを超える鮮やかな画質で動画やゲームなどが楽しめるという。５００万画素の最新の内蔵カメラを搭載し、ビデオの性能も高めた。次世代の高速通信「ＬＴＥ」にも対応しているが、利用できるのは当初は米国、カナダのみ。ソフトバンクモバイルによると、高速データ通信「ソフトバンク４Ｇ」には対応しないが、７月２５日に開始する９００メガヘルツ帯の「プラチナバンド」を使用したサービスには対応している。Ｗｉ－ＦｉやＵＳＢ経由でほかのデバイスと通信を共有できる「パーソナルスポット」機能には、対応していない。
　価格はＷｉ－Ｆｉ＋４Ｇモデルは１６ギガが５万３７６０円（Ｗｉ－Ｆｉモデル４万２８００円）、３２ギガが６万１６８０円（同５万８００円）、６４ギガが６万９６００円（同５万８８００円）。また、通常５４６０円の基本使用料が４４１０ 円で利用でき、Ｗｉ－Ｆｉ＋４Ｇモデルの１６ギガモデルが実質負担額０円になるキャンペーン「ｉＰａｄ　ｆｏｒ　ｅｖｅｒｙｂｏｄｙ」を５月３１日まで実施する。かなりの人が予約に走るんでしょうね。でも、実質負担0は魅力的かもしれませんね。
