長野県内初となるインターナショナルスクールの設立の準備を進める東京の公益財団法人は２７日、軽井沢町に２０１４年９月に開校すると発表した。通信制を除けば、県内初の秋入学の高校となる。同年１月ごろに入学試験を実施、英語の論文や面接などを予定する。
学校名は「インターナショナルスクール・オブ・アジア軽井沢（ＩＳＡＫ＝アイザック）」で全寮制。通常の私立高校にあたるが、国語以外の授業は英語で行われる。各学年５０人程度で、１クラス１０～１８人ほどの予定。生徒の３～４割はアジア各国の留学生を受け入れるとし、国際的な大学受験資格「国際バカロレア」の取得を目指す。
学校運営は寄付や授業料でまかない、学費・寮費は年間３５０万円。全生徒の２割には奨学金を給付するという。
設立準備に取り組む団体の代表理事小林さんは「様々な価値観の人とコミュニケーションがとれる、新しい時代のリーダーを育てていきたい」と話す。
県情報公開・私学課は「県内の中学生にとって選択肢が広がるのはいいことだ。地域とのかかわりも考えていってほしい」としている。特色のある学校になりそうですが、どれくらいの人数が集まるでしょうかね。
