枠組みは「ＲＥＮＫＥＩ」と名付けられ、産業界との技術・知識移転、大学間の人材交流、社会貢献の３分野を中心に構成。各大学の研究員や学生を対象にした交流プログラムなどを用意する。
参加するのは東北、東京、名古屋、京都、立命館、九州の各大学。英国からはブリストル、リーズ、リバプール、ニューカッスル、サウスハンプトン、ＵＣＬ（ユニバーシティ・カレッジ・ロンドン）。英国の国際文化交流機関であるブリティッシュ・カウンシルが協力する。秋入学といった形式の変更ではなく、地道な外国の大学との連携や協力が必要な気がしますね。その意味では良い試みのように思えますね。
