経 済産業省は６日、東西日本で異なる電気の周波数を統一した場合、電力会社の設備交換だけで約10兆円のコストがかかるとの試算をまとめた。東日本の50ヘ ルツを60ヘルツに統一する場合を想定し、発電機などの交換費用を算出。工場のモーターなど需要家側も対応投資が必要なことも指摘した。

　経産省は「周波数の統一を現実的な選択肢とすることは困難」と評価。東西間の周波数変換設備の増強を電力融通拡大に向けた対応策の柱とする。同省の審議会で議論を進め、４月をめどに結論を出す予定だ。もっと前に統一化を進めていれば、もっと少ない予算で実行できたのかもしれませんが、今となっては後の祭りといった感じですね。
