日本人の受賞ならず(物理学賞)Winner of the Japanese as well (physics)

スウェーデンの王立科学アカデミーは４日、今年のノーベル物理学賞を米ローレンス・バークリー国立研究所のソール・パールマター博士、オーストラリ ア国立大のブライアン・シュミット博士、米ジョンホプキンス大のアダム・リース博士の３氏に贈ると発表した。受賞理由は「遠距離の超新星観測を通じた宇宙の膨張加速の発見」。
　パールマター氏らは「Ｉａ型」と呼ばれる超新星に注目。この超新星は太陽ほどの重さで、地球ほどの大きさの星が爆発したもので、一つの超新星は銀河に相当するほどの光を発する。二つの研究チームは約５０の超新星を見つけ、それらからの光が予想以上にだんだん弱くなることを発見した。これは宇宙の膨張が加速している兆候だった。 残念ですが日本人の受賞はありませんでしたね。
