賞金５万ドル（Win $ 50,000）

米国防総省は、シュレッダーにかけられた文書を復元できるか参加者が競うコンテストを行うと発表した。
　最高で賞金５万ドル（約３８０万円）が出る。画期的な復元手法の開発につなげるのが狙いで、押収したテロリストの文書を読んだり、国家機密の文書をシュレッダーで細かくするのは安全か判定したりするのに役立てる。
　主催は同省高等研究計画局（ＤＡＲＰＡ）で、専用サイトに、市販のシュレッダーでばらばらになった５種類の文書を公開した。参加資格は、１８歳以上の米国永住の個人かチーム。紙片を元通りにし、手書きの文章を読まなければ解けない質問に答える。完全に文書を復元した場合の最高額は５万ドルになる。
　シュレッダーで細かくなった紙は、人間が手で復元したり、コンピューターで自動復元したりできる。しかし同省は「現在の方法では遅すぎ、人手がかかりすぎる」とし、科学者やパズル愛好家に斬新な手法の提案を呼びかけている。
 　全く新しい発想でないと時間短縮は厳しいのかもしれませんが、簡単で勝つ斬新なアイディアが出てくるかもしれませんね。米国永住という枠を外して世界的に募集したらもっといいかもしれませんね。
