インド宇宙研究機関（ＩＳＲＯ）は５日午後２時３８分（日本時間午後６時８分）、南部アンドラプラデシュ州の宇宙センターから、同国初の無人火星探査機「マンガルヤーン」を国産ロケット「ＰＳＬＶ―Ｃ２５」で打ち上げた。
　来年９月に火星の周回軌道に到達する計画だ。成功すれば、アジアでは初の火星探査成功国なる。
　インドは昨年８月に火星探査計画を発表し、当初の目標どおり１５か月後の打ち上げを実現した。探査を成功させることで米露に続く宇宙開発技術力を示し、新興国のライバル・中国に差をつけたい狙いがあるとみられる。ＩＳＲＯによると、開発費用は総額約４５億ルピー（約７１億円）。探査機は総重量約１３５０キロで、生命の痕跡のほか、火星表面の状態、鉱物の有無などの調査を行う。
　いよいよインドが出てきたといった感じですね。中国経済に陰りが見えてきている状況の中でインドへの商圏の移動とあいまって、今後インドが様々な面で大きく世界に出てくるのかもしれないですね。
