東京工業大学は２１日、同大が開発したスーパーコンピューター「ＴＳＵＢＡＭＥ―ＫＦＣ」が、スパコンの省エネ性能ランキング「グリーン５００」で世界一になったと発表した。
　日本のスパコンが同ランキングで１位になったのは初めて。
　このランキングは半年に１回、スパコンの消費電力当たりの計算能力の高さを競う。ツバメは消費電力１ワットで、１秒当たり４５億回の計算性能を達成。２位の英ケンブリッジ大のスパコン（約３６億回）に大差をつけた。
　ツバメは空気冷却に加え、冷たい油性の溶媒液にコンピューターを浸す独自の方法を組み合わせ、消費電力を低減した。
　今回のグリーン５００は３位に筑波大、６位に東工大の別のスパコンが入り、日本勢の活躍が目立っている。
