信州大（本部・松本市）は３日、信州製超小型人工衛星「ＳｈｉｎｄａｉＳａｔ」（愛称・ぎんれい）の完成記念セレモニーを、長野市の信大工学部キャンパスで開いた。開発に協力した県内企業の関係者や、愛称の名付け親らに、完成した衛星をお披露目した。衛星は宇宙航空研究開発機構（ＪＡＸＡ）のＨ２Ａロケットに搭載され、来年２月ごろに打ち上げられる予定だ。
　信大と信濃毎日新聞社は、昨年８月に締結した連携・協力協定に基づく事業の第１弾として、昨年９～１１月に愛称を公募。全国から４０３８点の応募があった。「ぎんれい」は男女計６人が提案し、この日は５人が出席。熊本県八代市の広野さんは「公募を知り、すぐに信州の山並みの『銀嶺（ぎんれい）』が思い浮かんだ」と話した。名付け親には、全員の氏名を刻んで衛星に搭載される銘板のレプリカが記念品として贈られた。
　信大は衛星を使って、発光ダイオード（ＬＥＤ）の光で地上と通信する超長距離の「可視光通信実験」を実施。スマートフォン（多機能携帯電話）などの普及で電波不足が生じる中、新たな通信手段の可能性を探る。開発を中心に進めた信大工学部の中島特任教授は実験が技術確立に役立つとして、「宇宙から県北部地震被災地の下水内郡栄村の人たちにメッセージを送ってみたい」と述べた。開発に参加した同大修士２年の福沢さんは「協力してくれた県内企業のためにも絶対に成功させたい」と話した。
