東京六大学の応援部で構成する「東京六大学応援団連盟」は、平成２６年度の委員長を早稲田大法学部３年の木暮さんに決めた。早大応援部によると約７０年の連盟の歴史で女性トップは初めて。木暮さんは「女性でも受け入れてくれたことがうれしい。伝統を守りたい」と意気込む。
　木暮さんは前橋市出身、早大本庄高（埼玉県）時代にチアリーダーとして活躍し、２３年に早大に進学。「大学野球の応援を見て、そのがむしゃらさに圧倒された」と、女人禁制の応援部（リーダー部）の門をたたいた。
　強い熱意に、上級生が「練習についていけるのなら」と入部を許可。厳しい練習に耐え、スーツに腕章姿で選手に声援を送った。
　連盟は１年ごとに当番校を決めており、来年度の当番校が次の委員長を指名できる。２６年度の当番校の早大が、「女性の視点で組織に新風を」と木暮さんを正式に指名した。
　東京大応援部のホームページによると、連盟発足は昭和２２年。昭和初期、野球の試合中に早大の応援席から慶応大の選手にリンゴが投げつけられた「リンゴ事件」が起きたことなどをきっかけに、大学同士のトラブルを防ぐ目的で結成された。
　英科学誌ネイチャーに高橋政代さんが選ばれたり、東京六大学に女性総長が選出されたり、女性の躍進が目立ちますね。来年はもっと女性が活躍するかもしれませんね。
