A new peptide vaccine therapy.

The 2nd , Sapporo Medical University Hospital and Institute of Medical Science, University of Tokyo Hospital has announced that it has started Phase II clinical trial of a new peptide vaccine therapy for pancreatic cancer patients ( clinical trial ) . Use the peptide pharmaceutical and Sapporoikadai developed " Survivin 2B " and (SVN-2B), to activate the immune cells to attack the cancer cells . To target pancreatic cancer patients with advanced had no effective treatment until now , to verify the safety and efficacy .
Is carried out not with the support of pharmaceutical companies as " physician -led clinical trial " . Targeting 71 people advanced or recurrent pancreatic cancer patients , the group will be co-administered SVN-2B and interferon products to help with SVN-2B single administration group , the activation of immune cells , can be divided into three groups of non-administration group I investigate the effect . Period until December 2016 .
SVN-2B is the thing that can be reproduced some protein that is expressed on the surface of cancer cells ( antigen) . By to be recognized by the antibodies of the immune cells can be administered to the body this , to increase the T cells to attack the cancer . In the first phase I clinical study carried out from August 12 to May 13 , the effect of suppressing the growth of tumors in cases of about 53% that was confirmed. Aiming to 71 people , plans cases is recruiting participants .

東京大学医科学研究所附属病院と札幌医科大学附属病院は２日、膵臓がん患者に対する新たなペプチドワクチン療法の第２相臨床試験（治験）に着手したと発表した。札幌医科大などが開発した「サバイビン２Ｂ」（ＳＶＮ―２Ｂ）というペプチド医薬を使い、がん細胞を攻撃する免疫細胞を活性化させる。これまで効果的な治療法のなかった進行性の膵臓がん患者を対象に、安全性と有効性を検証する。
　製薬会社の支援を受けない「医師主導治験」として実施する。進行・再発膵臓がん患者７１人を対象に、ＳＶＮ―２Ｂ単独投与群と、免疫細胞の活性化を支援するインターフェロン製剤とＳＶＮ―２Ｂを併用投与する群、非投与群の３群に分けて効果を調べる。期間は２０１６年１２月まで。
　ＳＶＮ―２Ｂはがん細胞の表面に発現しているたんぱく質（抗原）の一部を再現したもの。これを体内に投与して免疫細胞の抗体に認識させることで、がんを攻撃するＴ細胞を増やす。１２年８月から１３年５月までに実施した第１相臨床試験では、約５３％の症例で腫瘍の増大を抑える効果が確認されたという。予定症例は７１人を目指し、参加者を募集している。
　この臨床試験を通じて効果的な治療法が確立することを期待したいですね。
