医療分野の研究開発の司令塔として米国立衛生研究所（ＮＩＨ）を参考に、政府が設置する「日本版ＮＩＨ」の総合戦略の原案が１４日、明らかになった。
　認知症を根本的に治す新薬の治験開始を２０２０年頃までに、抗がん剤の副作用予測の確立を２０～３０年頃までに実現するなどの達成目標を掲げた。
　日本版ＮＩＨの意思決定機関となる健康・医療戦略推進本部（本部長・安倍首相）が来年１月に正式決定するのに向け、専門家らで作る調査会が今秋から検討してきた。大学、研究機関などに資金を配分する中核の独立行政法人が来年度にも発足する。
　達成目標では、ｉＰＳ細胞（人工多能性幹細胞）を使った薬の臨床応用、医療機器の輸出額倍増（１１年比）をともに２０年頃までに行うとした。目標実現のため、〈１〉患者の膨大な情報「ビッグデータ」を薬の開発に生かす〈２〉基礎研究から実用化までに通じたリーダーを育てる――などを盛り込んだ。大きな目標を掲げることは良いことですね。特にiPS細胞の臨床応用を具体的に進めてほしいですね。目標実現に向けて政府指導で果敢に取り組んでください。
