１９７３年から雑誌ビッグコミックオリジナル（小学館）で連載している水島新司さんの野球漫画「あぶさん」が、来年２月５日発売の同誌で終わることになった。
　酒豪で強打者の「あぶさん」こと主人公・景浦安武は、２０日発売の同誌で、助監督を務める福岡ソフトバンクホークスが今年パ・リーグ４位に終わった責任を取って退団する。
　あぶさんは、７３年にドラフト外で当時の南海ホークスに入団したという設定。９１年から３年連続で三冠王となり、２００９年に現役引退してから二軍と一軍の助監督を歴任した。単行本は１０４巻まで刊行されており、最終の１０７巻は来年３月発売の予定。
　水島さんは、「実際のプロ野球をリアルタイムで漫画化し、主人公は実在の選手たちと勝負してきた。多くの選手から応援と協力をいただき、作品が育ってきた」と談話を発表した。
