東京農工大学は29日、卒業後に企業で即戦力となる「博士」を育てる５年制大学院を2014年度をメドに設置すると発表した。企業でのインターンシップ（就業体験）や海外留学などを取り入れた５年一貫教育で、エネルギーや食糧生産の技術開発に詳しい人材の輩出を目指す。

　現行の大学院に「実践科学専攻」を新設。定員は20人を想定する。５年制大学院修了時に「実践科学博士」という新たな学位を授与する計画。

　５年一貫教育の導入の背景には、現在の大学院が２年間の修士課程と３年間の博士課程に分かれていることがある。途中に修士論文の執筆があるため、学外での長期活動は難しい。また博士課程では専門分野がより狭まる傾向にあり、広い視野や問題解決能力を身につけてもらう。

　東芝、三菱商事、三井物産戦略研究所など10社以上や、米コーネル大学や独ボン大学、国連食糧農業機関（ＦＡＯ）など８つの海外機関とも連 携。大学院在学中にインターンシップなどで協力してもらう。東京農工大は13年度中に文部科学省に届け出て承認を受け次第、開始する予定。
　大学の質の低下が厳しい状況で、大学院に実質的教育研究過程を担っていってもらう必要性からも良い試みのように思えますね。早急に開始して欲しいですね。
