 　１０年に、三木谷社長が社内公用語を英語にすると宣言。その後の２年間で、同社社員は無料のレッスンや自主的な勉強を通じ、今ではおよそ８０％の社内会議が英語で行われ、社員のＴＯＥＩＣ平均点も１年半で５３０点ほどから７００点ほどまでアップしているという。
　三木谷社長は「これはまだはじまりのステップ」とし、グローバル化に向けて英語の習得は不可欠と強調。「本当にグローバル化できれば、多くの企業も追随してくれるはず」と自身も流ちょうな英語で話した。
 いまだ英語の公用化に対しては、様々な議論がなされていますが、多くの企業が追随するような形になっていくんでしょうかね。慣れてしまえばいいのかもしれませんが、日常会話も英語では息が詰まりそうですね。
