Professor Yamanaka, Kyoto University, Millennium Technology Prize（山中・京都大教授、ミレニアム技術賞受賞）

This year's Millennium Technology Prize award ceremony give to those skilled in the Finnish Academy of Engineering, such as the Finnish government to invest is superior to 13, held in Helsinki, the capital of Finland, the creator of the cells (iPS), induced pluripotent stem cells, Yamanaka Prize will be awarded to two professors from Kyoto University.

Winner of one of Mr. Linus Torvalds from Finland has been developed (OS) "Linux" free basic software of the computer more.

Professor Yamanaka evaluation about the same academy, and "had a great influence on medicine and biotechnology" by the cell development iPS. Prize (about 120 million yen) will be split in two about 1.2 million euros.

The award to honor the developers of the technology to improve people's lives, was founded in 2004, elected once every two years. I hope that this award, and will lead to winning the Nobel Prize.


フィンランド政府などが出資するフィンランド技術アカデミーが優れた技術者に贈るミレニアム技術賞の今年の授賞式が１３日、フィンランドの首都ヘルシンキで行われ、人工多能性幹細胞（ｉＰＳ細胞）の生みの親、山中・京都大教授ら２人に賞が授与される。
もう１人の受賞者はコンピューターの無償基本ソフト（ＯＳ）「リナックス」を開発したフィンランド出身のリーナス・トーバルズ氏。
同アカデミーは山中教授について、ｉＰＳ細胞開発により「医学や生命工学に多大な影響を与えた」と評価。約１２０万ユーロ（約１億２千万円）の賞金は２人で折半となる。
同賞は人々の生活を向上させた技術の開発者をたたえるため、２００４年に創設され、２年に１度選ばれる。この受賞が、ノーベル賞受賞につながっていくといいですね。
