鶴居村教育委員会と道教育大釧路校は昨年度、協力して「教育の鶴居」プロジェクトを立ち上げた。学力が全道でもトップレベルにある鶴居村の教育について研究し、地域貢献に生かそうという取り組みだ。大学側は日常的に学校に訪れて授業に対する助言、指導を行うほか、「鶴居村教育研究所」の集会にも参加、教員研修なども支援する。
国安教育長は村を一つの学校と見立て「鶴居学校」、全教職員を「チーム鶴居」と呼んでいる。「学力だけを高めようとしているわけではなく、知育、徳育、体育のバランスの取れた教育が目標」と話している。
先生同士の横の交流を通じて指導方法を互いに学べる環境にある点がいいですし、学校ばかりでなく家庭はもちろん地域ぐるみで子どもの教育に取り組んでいる点も評価できそうですね。古い共同体がまさに生きている点がいいんでしょうね。地域の子どもという意識をもって学校・家庭そして地域が一つになって教育を考え実施していくことが今後はもっと重要になっていくように感じますね。
