　新しい治療薬開発につながる可能性があるという。１３日の米医学誌「サイエンス・トランスレーショナル・メディシン」電子版に掲載された。
　チームは、アルツハイマー病の患者で、「ソーラ」というたんぱく質が、少ないことに着目した。
　病気の原因物質「アミロイドβ」の量を一定にしたマウスに対し、このたんぱく質の量を多くしたものと平均的な量のものとで比較。その結果、たんぱく質の量が３～４倍多いマウスは、平均的な量のマウスよりアミロイドβの蓄積量が４分の１になったという。
　高木教授は「ソーラはアミロイドβの『掃除屋』となっているようだ。アルツハイマー病の発症リスクを下げる役割を果たしていると考えられる」と話す。治療薬開発に向けて更なる研究を進めてください。
