島根県は１７日、同県隠岐の島町の漁師が、１９５２～５３年ごろに竹島へ渡る際に使用した海図を発見したと発表した。漁師たちの拠点だった同町久見地区と竹島、竹島と松江市の灯台方向をそれぞれ結ぶ線が鉛筆で書き込まれている。大学教授らでつくる県の竹島問題研究会によると、竹島渡航に使った形跡が残された海図が見つかるのは初めて。旧日本海軍の水路部が３５年に発行した海図で、４９年の小改正と５０年の航路告示が反映されている。久見地区の漁師が５０年以降に購入したとみられ、隠岐の島町の漁協に保管されていたのを研究会が見つけた。地区の住民への聞き取りによって、５２～５３年ごろに使っていたものと特定した。研究会座長の下條拓殖大教授（日本史）は「日本が竹島を実効支配していたことを示す証しになる」と話している。
