Opening celebration of winter.

第２２回冬季五輪ソチ大会は７日午後８時１４分（日本時間８日午前１時１４分）からロシア南部の黒海沿岸にあるソチで開会式が行われ、４年に１度の冬の祭典が幕を開けた。

　冬季五輪では史上最多の８７か国・地域から選手約２９００人が参加し、２３日まで７競技９８種目で熱戦を繰り広げる。日本選手団は総勢２４８人（選手は１１３人）で、海外で開催される冬季大会では史上最多。女子選手は６５人で、冬季五輪では初めて４８人の男子を上回った。

　橋本聖子団長が、前回大会に引き続き選手団を率いる。主将は、４１歳で７度目の出場を果たしたノルディックスキー・ジャンプの葛西紀明が務める。
