University of Tokyo ranked first.

英高等教育専門誌「タイムズ・ハイヤー・エデュケーション」は１０日、アジア地域（アジア、中東）の大学ランキングを初めて発表し、日本からは東京大が１位に入るなど、２２校が１００位以内に入った。
　順位付けは、研究者による評価、論文の引用数、指導環境などを総合した評価に基づいている。日本以外では、台湾大など１７校が１００位以内に入った台湾や、１０位以内に浦項工科大など３校が入り、１００位以内に１４校が入った韓国などが健闘した。上位５校は東大以下、〈２〉シンガポール国立大〈３〉香港大〈４〉北京大〈５〉浦項工科大の順だった。
　日本勢では、京都大（７位）、東京工業大（１３位）、東北大（１５位）、大阪大（１７位）、名古屋大（２６位）など国公立大１９校のほか、慶応大（５３位）、早稲田大（５７位）、順天堂大（６０位）の私立大３校も１００位以内に入った。もっと多くの大学がランキングに入れるように教育・研究の質を上げていって欲しいですね。
