Library new sensation.

年中無休で、ＤＶＤやＣＤもレンタルでき、開放的な館内でコーヒーを飲みながらページをめくれる。生まれ変わった佐賀県の武雄市図書館が１日、オープンした。運営は、レンタル大手「ツタヤ」を展開するカルチュア・コンビニエンス・クラブ。賛否双方の声があがる中、新図書館の試みが注目される。
　もともとあった公立図書館を改装した。市中心部に位置し、そばに大型ショッピングセンターもある。３月３１日には内覧会があり、約１２００人の市民が一足早く新図書館を体感した。
　正面玄関から中に入ると、販売用の雑誌が平積みされたコーナーがいきなり展開する。右手にはコーヒーチェーン・スターバックス、左手には３万枚のＣＤと４万５千枚のＤＶＤを有料でレンタルするコーナーも。本やマンガも販売され、感覚はツタヤの店そのものだ。
　こんな図書館もあっていいのかもしれませんね。少し長い目で様々な観点で検証して評価を加えてほしい気がしますね。
