ペルーのナスカ台地で斬首の場面を描いたともとれる新たな地上絵が発見された。山形大学人文学部付属ナスカ研究所が１２日、発表した。ハチドリやコンドルを描いた地上絵より古い、紀元前４００～紀元前２００年ごろ（パラカス後期）のものだという。
　２０１１年夏、ナスカ台地の中心部で同研究所メンバーが見つけ、レーザーを使って詳しく測量した。左の人物は全長約１３メートル、幅７メートルで頭部が逆三角形。右の人物は頭部と胴部が分断されていて、全長約９メートル、幅８・５メートル。同研究所副所長の坂井教授（文化人類学・アンデス考古学）は「左の人間が右の人間の首を切ったようにもみえる」と話す。
　また、右の人物の頭部から出ている放射状の線は、現地の古い織物にもある図柄で、重要な存在を示すと考えられており、「ある種の儀礼行為の場面が描かれている可能性もある」（坂井教授）という。ナスカの地上絵は単体の動物や幾何学模様、放射状に伸びた直線が大半で、場面を描いたものだとすればほかに例がないという。 まだまだ、他にも地上絵が存在しているのかもしれませんね。
