　将棋のプロ棋士５人と五つのコンピューターソフト（プログラム）が団体戦形式で対決する「第３回電王戦」の第１局が１５日、東京都江東区の有明コロシアムであり、ソフトが勝った。
　昨春の第２回では現役棋士が公の場でソフトに初めて敗れ、団体戦としても棋士側が１勝３敗１持将棋（引き分け）と負け越し。「今回は負けられない」と臨んだ棋士側には、厳しい黒星スタートとなった。
　この日は岡山市在住の新鋭、菅井五段と、東京都府中市の会社員、竹内さんが開発したソフト「習甦（しゅうそ）」が対戦。先手番の菅井五段が得意の振り飛車戦法を採用したが、習甦が中盤でリードし、９８手で押し切った。菅井五段は「去年１１月から習甦と２００局ほど練習将棋を指したが、やったことがない形になり動揺した。ふがいない内容で、総合的に見て習甦の方がちょっと強いと感じた」、竹内さんは「勝利は素直にうれしい」と話した。将棋という範疇では棋士がコンピュータソフトに勝つことは難しそうですね。
