Development of "exa-class supercomputer."

The 28th, RIKEN has announced that starting from the next month to develop "exa (100 today) class supercomputer" with the performance of about 100 times supercomputer "K computer". Expected to aim for completion in 2020, will be installed in a facility of RIKEN Kobe the same as today.
Exa-class supercomputer can calculate the "one million times a trillion times" per second. RIKEN is expected to be about 140 billion yen development costs at the moment.
When completed, research or help evacuate hundreds of patterns to predict the damage of the earthquake and tsunami, or to predict the side effects of new drugs becomes possible. China and Europe and the United States are conducting the research for for the development. Many countries are competing in the development of supercomputers, but, by all means, please complete the product development research with the aim of recapturing the world.


理化学研究所は２８日、スーパーコンピューター「京」の約１００倍の性能を持つ「エクサ（１００京）級スパコン」の開発を来月から始めると発表した。２０２０年頃の完成を目指し、京と同じ神戸市の理研の施設に設置する予定。
　エクサ級スパコンは、１秒間に「１兆回の１００万倍」の計算ができる。理研は現時点で開発費を約１４００億円と見込んでいる。
　完成すれば、地震や津波の被害を何百パターンも予測して避難に役立てたり、新薬の副作用を予測したりする研究が可能になるという。欧米や中国も開発に向けた研究を進めている。多くの国がスーパーコンピュータの開発にしのぎを削っていますが、ぜひ、世界一の奪還を目指して開発研究を進めてください。
