日比谷公園（東京都千代田区）のレストラン日比谷松本楼で２５日、今年も「１０円カレー」が振る舞われる。沖縄返還闘争の学生デモ隊が放火して１９７１（昭和４６）年に建物が焼失。営業再開を求める励ましが相次いだことに感謝して始まったチャリティーで、４１回目になる。
　松本楼は１９０３（明治３６）年の創業。日本初の洋式庭園として日比谷公園が完成した年のことだ。小坂社長にとって、焼き打ちに遭った７１年１１月１９日は、経営の考え方を改める転機になった。
　「あの頃は若造でね。売り上げをどう伸ばすかばかりを考えていた。こんな古い店、いずれつぶれると思っていた。」
