東京外国語大の大学院生が市民に語学を教える「サマースクール」が８月、同大キャンパスで開かれる。今年は１２言語で計４９講座を予定しており、主催者側は「熱意ある院生たちが面白い講義をします」と参加を呼びかけている。

開講されるのは、英語、ドイツ語、フランス語、スペイン語、イタリア語、ロシア語などに加え、ラトビア語、古典ギリシャ語といった比較的マイナーな言語も。内容は英検や仏検対策など実用的なものを始め、入門講座から原書の精読まで、バラエティーに富んだメニューをそろえた。

英語サマースクール実行委員会代表で、博士前期課程（修士）１年の川端さんによると、最も歴史がある「英語」は今年で６０回目。当初は大学院生の論文集発行の経費を一部賄うために開講されたとみられるという。ドイツ語は数年ぶりに開催される。
