放射性セシウムを光らせ、目で確認できる検出薬を開発したと、独立行政法人物質・材料研究機構（茨城県つくば市）のチームが発表した。
　人体や環境への悪影響がないことを確認できれば実用化を目指す。原発事故の除染などに役立てたいという。
　同機構の有賀主任研究者と森博士研究員らが、市販の３種類の試薬を使って開発した。この検出薬はセシウムを包み込む性質を持ち、セシウムを含む土などにかけて紫外線を照射すると、青緑色に光ることを確認した。
　地面や植物の表面など、数ミリ・メートルの小さな範囲でも検出でき、家の中や庭などでも活用できそうだという。
　この検出薬はカリウムなども光らせるが、色の違いでセシウムと区別できるとしている。早い段階で実用化して欲しいですね。
