宇宙航空研究開発機構は２６日、２０１４年の打ち上げを目指し開発を進めている小惑星探査機「はやぶさ２」を、相模原キャンパス（相模原市）で初めて公開した。
　プロジェクト責任者の国中同機構教授は「はやぶさで、世界に先駆けて確立した技法をさらに洗練させる。是が非でも１４年１２月に打ち上げたい」と意気込みを見せた。
　本体と折り畳まれた太陽電池パネルは、実際に宇宙に行くものが完成したが、観測や運用に使う機器は未搭載で、模擬の重りを取り付けてある段階。ロ ケット打ち上げ時の振動に耐えられるかの試験や、各種の機器との接続を確認する試験などを実施し、１４年夏以降の完成を目指す。
　初代「はやぶさ」の様々な経験や技法を活かして完璧な打ち上げと飛行、そして結果を確実に持ち帰るべく万全な準備を進めていって欲しいですね。
